If you have any other specific questions, please e-mail us!

Who will translate our document?

We maintain a proprietary database of hand-picked professional translators who possess a minimum of 5 years experience. To accommodate your specific project requirements, we also have access to expert linguists who have background/training in specific fields (doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc.) Whenever possible, we use native speakers who specialize in a particular field and are culturally sensitive to potential problems in the target language. Our rigorous selection process ensures that not only do our linguists thoroughly understand the source material, but they can also accurately convey the meaning hidden behind individual words.

How difficult can it be? We could probably do it ourselves. All you have to do is open a dictionary, and there are even online translation tools. What could possibly go wrong?

In one word – plenty! Here you will find some interesting examples of what can happen to texts when they are unprofessionally translated. We offer different service levels to match clients’ needs and budget. If you order standard service level or higher, we never use machine translation, only real people.

What is included in the price? And how do you ensure quality?

To ensure high quality of our translations, we use this procedure for each project.

How long does it take?

Standard turnaround time is 2 - 2.5 K words per translator, per day, and about 8 K words per editor and proofreader/reviewer per day, with a minimum of 2-3 business days deadline. Orders that exceed standard terms may incur rush fees.

How about confidentiality?

Our linguists are required to keep all materials confidential. If required, we will sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, return all original documents, and destroy all copies of the material and electronic files. However, this might complicate revisions and incur new translation charges if changes become necessary at a later date.

What software do you use?

All industry-standard software. Plus specialized translation tools such as Trados and SDLX. We are happy to purchase and learn new software, provided the project size justifies the investment. If in doubt, please ask us when discussing a project.

In what format do you deliver translations?

We can handle a variety of formats and document types, and we can also create PDF and EPS files for cross-platform compatibility. We usually deliver files and documents by e-mail. We can also upload them to your FTP site or allow you to download the files you need from our FTP site. In addition, we can burn you a CD, or send you a hard copy by courier or fax. For large / recurring projects, we can create a client portal where you can upload / download files as they become available and monitor translation progress / status.
Please let us know your specific requirements when discussing a project.

The document is very long, and we are not sure whether all of it needs to be translated. Maybe we do not need it at all. Can you translate portions of the document or just review and summarize?

Yes, we regularly do this kind of work.

Can you certify and notarize your translations?

Certification and Notarization are typically required for personal documents. Commercial translations are usually a product of a collaborative effort of several people: translator, editor, QA specialist, in-house quality control, project manager and so on. In addition, our clients and linguists are located in many countries. What works in one jurisdiction may not work in another. Therefore, we can certify commercial translations as a company.
A notarized Affidavit of Accuracy with a corporate seal, signed by the ABC Language Solutions President, is available upon request. Certifications and notarizations done by individual translators are also available. However, you must realize that this will incur additional charges and create delays. Also note that notarization done in, say, Greece, may not be acceptable in the USA and vice versa, so additional lengthy and costly steps such as Apostille or legalization may be needed. Please inform us of your specific requirements when discussing a project.

If you have any specific certification requirements for example, need individual linguist to sign any declarations, provide certifications in any specific forms or format etc., please discuss them before starting a project because they can have a significant effect on deadlines and prices.

How much does it cost?

Our rates are competitive and reflect the high quality of our work. Prices depend on deadlines, the nature of the translation, whether travel is required, etc. Translations are usually priced on a per-word basis, and any other work is charged by the hour. We will be happy to quote rates in lines, characters, pages, minutes of film/tape and any other units to accommodate your billing practices. It all really boils down to the time spent on the project.
