Translation of Complex Documents into Less Common Languages
The Client: A major international aerospace company, seeking to win a contract with the government of Kazakhstan.
The Challenge: The goal was to translate the required documents into Russian on a rolling basis as they were produced by the client’s engineers. However, after the project had begun, it changed to require the translation of some material into Kazakh, for which there is little expertise in technical areas. Indeed, until recently, the main language of official communication in Kazakhstan was Russian. Engineers were trained in Russian and all official documents were written in Russian. Consequently, technical Kazakh language was simply not developed, especially in areas such as aerospace. As a result, there are very few qualified translators.
