Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ABC Language Solutions, Inc. website and the translation, interpretation, and localization services we provide ("Services"). By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services

We provide professional human translation, editing, proofreading, interpretation, desktop publishing, and localization services across 120+ languages, for personal, corporate, and institutional clients. Specific deliverables, timelines, and pricing for each project are confirmed in your individual quote or order confirmation.

2. Quotes and Orders

  • Quotes are estimates based on the information and files provided at the time of request and may change if the scope, word count, format, or complexity of the source material differs once work begins.
  • An order is confirmed once you accept a quote and, where applicable, submit the required deposit or payment.
  • Delivery timelines are estimates and begin once full payment (or an agreed deposit) and all necessary source files are received.

3. Payment

  • Payment terms are specified in your quote or order confirmation. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due before final delivery of translated documents.
  • Corporate clients with approved credit terms will be invoiced according to the schedule agreed at onboarding.
  • We reserve the right to withhold delivery of completed work until payment is received in full.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

  • If you cancel an order before work has begun, you will receive a full refund.
  • If you cancel after work has begun, you will be charged for the portion of work completed up to the cancellation date.
  • We stand behind the quality of our work. If you are not satisfied with a delivered translation, contact us within [X] days of delivery so we can review and revise it at no additional cost, in line with our satisfaction guarantee.

5. Client Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to submit any document, content, or material for translation, and that doing so does not infringe on any third party's rights.
  • You are responsible for providing clear instructions, context, and reference materials needed to complete an accurate translation (glossaries, style guides, prior translations, etc.).
  • You are responsible for reviewing delivered work and notifying us promptly of any concerns.

6. Confidentiality

We treat all client documents as confidential. Our translators and staff are bound by confidentiality obligations and, where required, formal Non-Disclosure Agreements. Please see our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle and protect your documents and personal information.

7. Intellectual Property

  • You retain all rights to the source content you provide to us.
  • Upon full payment, you own the translated deliverables produced for your project.
  • We may not use your content, in whole or in part, for any purpose other than fulfilling your order, unless you give us written permission (for example, to use anonymized excerpts as testimonials or case studies).

8. Certified and Notarized Translations

Where a certified or notarized translation is requested, we will provide the appropriate certification statement or notarization in accordance with the standards of the jurisdiction specified at the time of order. It is the client's responsibility to confirm with the receiving institution (e.g., government agency, court, university) exactly which type of certification is required before placing an order.

9. Limitation of Liability

While we take extensive care to ensure the accuracy and quality of every translation, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our Services, including but not limited to lost business opportunities, delays caused by third parties (such as receiving institutions), or misuse of a translated document outside its intended purpose. Our total liability for any claim related to a project is limited to the amount paid for that specific project.

10. Third-Party Links and Tools

Our website may contain links to third-party resources (such as dictionaries or reference tools) for your convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of these third-party websites.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our website or Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
